St. Brendan the Navigator was born in Ireland. He founded the well known Clonfort Monastery and is believed to have travelled throughout Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and Wales spreading the word of God. He is largely known for the tales of his travels found in the medieval manuscript Voyage of Saint Brendan in which he and a group of monks travelled the seas, some say even to the America's!
